Russian Sand Sculptures

The organizers didn’t realize that Moscow is not the best place to held such an event because of unstable spring climate. Usually those contests are conducted in the regions where the rains are not so often, but in this city and at this time of year, it can rain daily, so it’s big pity they didn’t last long.[VIA]

HYS – Remakes and adaptations

It’s been a while since the ESPV team has offered a HaveYourSay post for yall to mill over.. so we thought we’d throw a nice simple one out there to kick off the new year. For many film lovers and critics the last ten years was known as the decade of remakes, adaptations and attempts to bring old stories to life.. sometimes with dire results. The Lord of the Rings, Transformers, Sin City, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, King Kong, 3:10 to Yuma, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Alice in Wonderland, Dawn of the Dead, The 300, Infernal Affairs, Hell Boy, Superman, Batman, Where the Wild Things Are… all remakes, adaptations or classic stories brought to li

Aurora in the Swartland

So here I am, having driven around to the Western side of the Piketberg to see the tiny hamlet of Aurora with its under 700 inhabitants and its reputation of zero crime, zero police presence! I first heard about Aurora when it was claimed that city people buy places here to have a proper rest, write a book or recuperate in the cleanest air in the country. I will visit again to find the single shop, lunch at the single (very promising) restaurant and the one and only coffee house. And to look up the toy maker, and find some historic markers, and most of all hopefully find somebody with stories to share about the place!Driving up and down at 12 noon, I

Hallelujah!!i got an email from the man himself, Justin Blyth to let me know that the site, Them Thangs was back up & running. Thanks to REVOK for originally posting abt this amazing pictorial blog last year.I became hooked instantly and was gutted when it had to close down due to bandwidth issues 2 months ago. However, JBlyth managed to get some serious funding and is now able to do what he does best; Re-mix other people's work into one massive psychedelic, dark , sexual collage!

Nick Gentry Floppy Disc Art

"Throughout history, information has always been recorded on physical objects. Important documents, favourite songs, videos and more were stored on mountains of tapes, polaroids, cassettes and disks. As media is rapidly absorbed into the World Wide Web the rich variety of formats of the past are becoming obsolete."This represents a big shift away from physical, real world objects, driving towards a human existence that is ultimately governed by billions of intangible data files. This release of information from the physical form allows personal data and identities to now be revealed and infinitely shared online. At the same time many of us consider in

Travelling Days Are Over For Spirit

[VIA]After six years of roaming the Red Planet, travelling days for the Mars rover Spirits are over.Spirit has been stuck in a patch of soft, sandy soil since April 2009. After months of testing escape manoeuvres with two mock rovers on Earth, NASA began attempts to rescue Spirit in November 2009.The rover's three left wheels are almost entirely buried and have little traction, and two of its right wheels are broken and must be dragged or pushed. If it survives the upcoming Martian winter, it could be used as a stationary research lab to help study the planet's interior. Some of Spirits' more amusing discoveries.Alien head[VIA]Bigfoot! Wu Tang Return Of the Wu Album

Wu Tang Return Of The Wu mixed by MathematicsIn stores February 2010I have to admit, I was kind of sceptical when I received the link from AllYoungKings.com for the full Wu Tang album download. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the content of the album. It's a mix of old tracks remixed, new tracks, hardcore/chilled vibes and mixed by Mathematics. (To be honest, he needs to have stopped using the "I know why you're here" sample....he uses it about 600 times throughout the album! If you are a hardcore Wu fan then go for it, it's good to hear them coming together again and doing what they do best.....Download: 'Clap 2010'.
