Well, Happy New Year all! First painting for the year - YAY! I know it took a while but it just feels wrong to be painting over Xmas & New Year...I feel too guilty....it is family quality time instead....

Anyway, this painting is for all the childhood memories of rainforests from the camping trips I was dragged on by my dad.....always fascinated by the the ropy root, mossy carpets, lacy ferns, alien fungi....stuff spilling out of every available crevice!

I love of the colours in this one and the layering & weaving effect achieved - subtle but effective.

Twlight Rockpool (2010)

2nd of Rockpool Series

Finishing this one off dragged on a bit, but I think the colour intensity resulting was worth the wait. If you've ever been to an oceanside rockpool in summer where it stays light till 9pm and the sunlight glints off the rocks and everything looks completely intense...well, this is what I think it looks like anyway ;o)

Well, this is the first of a new series on rock pools. Inspired by the life abounding in the rock pools so prevalent on the rocky coasts of Australia. At the height of summer these rock pools explode with life and are seeded by all things brought in on the tides.
