Bridging the Moment (2011)

Title: Bridging the Moment
Completion: 27th January 2011
Dimensions: 49cm H x 47cm W x 4.2cmD
Well, Happy New Year all! First painting for the year - YAY! I know it took a while but it just feels wrong to be painting over Xmas & New Year...I feel too guilty....it is family quality time instead....
Anyway, this painting is for all the childhood memories of rainforests from the camping trips I was dragged on by my dad.....always fascinated by the the ropy root, mossy carpets, lacy ferns, alien fungi....stuff spilling out of every available crevice!
Enjoy ;o)

Cherry Blossoms (2008) - Tree Blossom Series

Size: 60cm W x 75cm H

I particularly love the cherry tree - when in flower there are no leaves, just the clash of stalk-like branches and bursts of flowers intertwining. Reminds me of walking in the park in winter...

And 2nd prize abstract winner of 2009 Mermaid Beach Rotary Show! YAY!!! ;o)

Tangerine Blossoms (2009) - Tree Blossom Series

Size: 60.5cm W x 30.5cm H x 3.5cm D

I just keep trying to perfect the branch structure & balance of flowers. I’m trying to achieve the right harmony that’s part of the bonsai philosophy. I love the soft colours of this painting & it’s so much fun to see finished painting emerge during the final stages.

Really happy with this painting..the branch structure and bark has become more refined...

Summer Blossoms (2008) - Tree Blossom Series

Size: 80cm W x 60cm H

Flowering trees are a vibrant example of the patterns replicated in nature within the chaotic-seeming branches. The closer one looks, the more the patterns appear in every detail – the branches, the flowers, the bark. The sky is a hazy blue depecition of a hot summer day.The structural representation of my tree also embodies the principals of bonsai – an idealized recreation of nature.

Spring Blossoms (2008) - Tree Blossom Series

This painting is everything I love about trees in spring. Flowering trees are a vibrant example of the patterns replicated in nature within the chaotic-seeming branches. The closer one looks, the more the patterns appear in every detail – the branches, the flowers, the bark. The structural representation of my tree also embodies the principals of bonsai – an idealized recreation of nature.

Blue Blossoms (2009)

Size: 80cm W x 60cm H

Flowering trees are a vibrant example of the patterns replicated in nature within the chaotic-seeming branches. The closer one looks, the more the patterns appear in every detail – the branches, the flowers, the bark. This is a melancholy day reflected by the colour of the sky and the alignment of the branches. Blue flowers on drooping branches are tinged with sadness. The structural representation of my tree also embodies the principals of bonsai – an idealized recreation of nature.
